The Bangladesh Nationalist Party acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir slammed the killing of a recaptured JMB man in a Tangail ‘gunfight’, and said the government has ‘absolutely failed’ to ensure security to the prisoners and that now they are trying to cover-up the ‘whole incident.’
‘Had he been grilled, many issues could have been revealed, such as who were involved in this matter… but he was killed mysteriously,’ he said.
The BNP spokesperson came up with the remarks after placing floral wreaths at Ziaur Rahman’s grave this morning with some of the BNP’s recently freed leaders including the organising secretary of the central committee, Golam Akbar Khandaker.
The BNP leader also expressed his deep concerns over snatching the three JMB militants from a prison van in Trishal.
Convicted militant of Jamaat-ul Mujahideen Bangladesh, Raquibul Hasan, who was recaptured after being snatched away from a prison van, was killed reportedly in a gunfight between police and Islamist militants in Tangail early Monday, police said.
