Prime minister Sheikh Hasina has urged the victims of hate attacks in Jessore’s Malopara not to leave Bangladesh out of fear, bdnews24.com reported.
‘Don’t ever think that this is not your country. Never consider leaving your homes. Strengthen yourselves and live here because it is your absolute rights,’ said the prime minister while addressing the people of Malopara in Abhoynagar on Thursday.
Hindu families in the area were attacked and their homes were ransacked and torched for casting votes in Jan 5 elections.
Prime minister Sheikh Hasina flew to the affected area in a helicopter on Thursday noon. After landing in Abhoynagar’s Naoapara Degree College, she went directly to Malopara, a settlement of fishermen and fish traders in Chapatola village.
There she visited violent-hit homes of Hindus and talked to affected villagers.
