Blockaders torched ballot papers and other necessary materials for a polling centre in Sadullahpur upazila of Gaibandha this afternoon.
Over 30 opposition men attacked four ballot-carrying rickshaw vans at Takanirmore area around 4:30pm, on the way to the polling centre at Kunjamohipur Govt Primary School.
They later set fire to the ballot boxes and other necessary materials there, said Shafiqul Alam, presiding officer of the centre.
The unruly activists also beat up a police constable and nine Ansar and VDP members who were escorting the vehicles to the polling centre from upazila headquarters, our Gaibandha correspondent reported quoting the election official.
Syed Farhad Hossain, upazila nirbahi officer of Sadullahpur upazila, told The Daily Star that they would send fresh ballots and other necessary materials for the polling centre.
Security has been beefed up at the polling following after the incident, he added.
