WB financing 29 projects: Muhith

The World Bank is now financing a total of 29 projects in Bangladesh involving about Taka 38,000 crore. Out of the amount, the Bank has so far disbursed Taka 9,677 crore.

Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith told this in parliament in his written reply to a question from treasury bench member Sanjida Khatun.

The finance minister said, the World Bank is also providing credit to 25 projects under the Bank’s trust fund. Total allocation for these projects is around Taka 3,910 crore, out of which, Taka 769 crore has so far been disbursed, the minister said.

Replying to a question from female member Nur Afroz Ali, the finance minister said, since 2009, names of 80 companies were cancelled from the stock market list sending those to ‘Over-The-
Counter (OCT) market.

Out of those companies, he said, 11 were later transferred to the main market. Name of a company has finally been cancelled from the OCT list, the minister said.
