The country’s three maritime ports have been asked to hoist local cautionary signal No. three due to a low over north-west Bay off West Bengal– Bangladesh coast.

Under its influence, light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at most places over Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong, Rajshahi, Rangpur and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over the country, said a Met office bulletin Monday.

The axis of monsoon trough runs through Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal, the centre of the low and thence northeastwards to Assam across Bangladesh.

Monsoon is active over Bangladesh and strong elsewhere over north Bay, the bulletin said.

All fishing boats and trawlers over north bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice.
