Noted folk singer Abdur Rahman Bayati passed away at a hospital in the capital Monday morning. He was 76.
Bayati, who had been admitted to Japan Bangladesh Friendship Hospital with serious neurological and urological problems on July 18, breathed his last around 7:30am, hospital sources said.
Bayati left behind three sons, three daughters and a host of friends, relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.
He was conferred with 20 awards on different times for his contribution in the arena of singing, media report said.
Besides singing, Bayati also acted in Bangla films.
He was youngest among two brothers and one sister.
Bayati was born at Sutrapur in the capital in 1939.
