Hartal observed in Narayanganj

NARAYANGANJ: The dawn-to-dusk hartal called by Narayanganj Sangskritik Jote was observed peacefully in the district Saturday.

No inter-district buses entered or left the district during hartal hours. Even, rickshaws, auto-rickshaws and other vehicles didn’t ply on the streets of the city.

People of all walks observed the hartal spontaneously. All political parties including BNP, CPB and BSD also extended their moral supports to the hartal.

Black flags were hoisted in different points of the town and protesters brought out a number of processions during hartal hours.

Meanwhile, they set fire to the rail track and stopped rail communications of the district.

Additional law enforcers were deployed in the city to avert any untoward situation.

On Friday, President of Narayanganj Sangskritik Jote Advocate Pradip Ghosh made the hartal announcement protesting the killing of a student.

Tanvir Mohammad Twaki, 17, son of vice president of Narayanganj Nagorik Committee Rafiur Rabbi, went missing on Wednesday and his body was found from a canal in the area on Friday morning.
