DHAKA: Law enforcers detained over 100 Jamaat-Shibir activists for their alleged involvement in cocktail explosion in capital’s Fakirapul area on Friday.
Sources said Jamaat-Shibir activists brought out a procession from Fakirapul mosque after Juma prayer protesting arrest of city Jamaat Assistant Secretary Selim Uddin and Uttara Thana Ameer Mahmudur Rahman.
At one stage of procession they blasted one cocktail in the area. Police opened 50 rounds blank fires to disperse Jamaat-Shibir activists.
To prevent further sabotage of Jamaat, police arrested more than 100 Jamaat-Shibir activists from adjacent area.
Allude to religion based eight political parties locked-into a chase and counter chase with law enforcers at Baitul Mukarram and Paltan areas on Friday. Jamaat tried to take an advantage of the situation.
