Jamaat rampage kills one in Gaibandha

GAIBANDHA: A rickshaw puller was killed as Jamaat men went on rampage in Dhansharhat area under Sundarganj upazila of the district on Friday morning.

The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.

Sundarganj police station OC Maznur Rahman told “At least six people, including three cops were killed in a clash between Jamaat-Shibir men with police in the upazila on Thursday.”

Following the deaths of people in the district, Awami League leaders sat in a discussion around 6:30am on Friday to fix their further steps.

On information, Jamaat leaders attacked on AL men, leaving the rickshaw puller dead while he was passing the area around 7:30am.

Earlier on Thursday, at least 47 people including five cops were killed and over 100 injured in clashes erupted in fifteen districts immediately after Jamaat leader Delawar Hossain Sayedee had been sentenced to death.

Banglanews district correspondents report: Two people were killed in Sirajganj, six in Rangpur, one in Natore, four in Noakhali, two in Dinajpur, two in Dhaka, three in Moulvibazar, two in Cox’s Bazar, seven killed in Gaibandha, seven in Satkhira, two killed in Chittagong, one in Bogra, one in Rajshahi, two killed in Chapainawabganj and five people were killed in Thakurgaon district in Jamaat-BNP clashes with cops.
