Parag abduction case 4 accused denied bail; land in jail

DHAKA: A Dhaka Court on Tuesday sent four accused to jail rejecting their bail appeals in Parag Mondol abduction case.

Chief Judicial Magistrate Kazi Shahidul Islam passed the order after hearing.

Earlier, the accused surrendered before the court about 12:30pm and sought bail.

The accused–Aminul Haque alias Jewel Mollah, Alfaz Hossain, Mamun Riadh, Abul Kashem while Rizvi Ahmed Anik was captive in jail in another case.

Earlier on Monday, the High Court directed authorities concerned to arrest five accused, freed on bail in Parag Mondol abduction case, within 24 hours a day after Judge M Abdul Majid of the Dhaka District and Sessions Judge’s Court cancelled their bail in the case.

The court also directed the police authorities to submit a report to this court by February 24 after complying with the order of arrest.

On November 11 in 2012, Parag Mondol, a student of KG-I at Heed International School, was abducted at Shuvadda Paschim Para in Keraniganj.

He was found senseless three days later in Atibazar of the area.

Later, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and the Detective Branch of Police arrested 11 people in this connection.

The district judge granted bail to Abul Kashem on January 2, Aminul Haq, also known as Jewel, Molla on January 15, Afzal Hossain on January 23, Rizvi Ahmed on January 28, and Mamun Miah on February 7.

On February 13, the HC summoned judge M Abdul Majid and District Public Prosecutor (PP) Khandaker Abdul Mannan asking them to appear before it on February 20 for giving explanations why the were accused were granted bail in this sensational case.

The court also issued a rule upon the authorities concerned to explain why the bail order should not be cancelled.

On February 17, Judge Abdul Majid cancelled the bail of the five accused following HC order.
