DHAKA: Hundreds of people thronged at city’s Mirpur-10 intersection on Saturday protesting the killing of blogger and online activist Rajib Hyder Shovon.
Students and teachers from Mirpur Bangla School and College, Mirpur Ideal School and College and Shaheed Abu Taleb High School brought out processions and joined the protest rally in the intersection.
Locals also joined the protest and halted vehicular movement through the area.
Addressing the protest rally, local lawmaker Elias Uddin Molla said, “Jamaat-Shibir killed Rajib and we want punitive action against the killers.”
“People took to the street demanding ban on Jamaat-Shibir politics,” he added.
Unidentified assailants slaughtered Shovon in Palashnagar area of city’s Mirpur on Friday night.
