COX’S BAZAR: The 48-hour hartal called by Jamaat in protest against the death of four Shibir activists during Friday’s clash with policies underway here peacefully.
The markets, shops and business organizations remained closed during early hours the hartal, banglanews correspondent reports.
Meanwhile, no vehicle apart from rickshaw is plying in the roads.
No bus left the district from morning.
However, no incident of violence took place till filing the report at about 10am.
Additional law enforcers are on alert in different points of the town.
District Jamaat secretary GM Rahim Molla confirmed the matter to banglanews Friday.
Earlier, four Shibir activists were killed and over 100 injured during a clash between Jamaat-Shibir-cops in the district.
Police sued some 6000 people for their alleged involvement with the unrest and held 250 in this connection.
Earlier on Friday, the local administration imposed section 144 in the district to avert any untoward situation in the area. But, they withdrew it on Saturday morning.
