Mahbubul Alam Hanif, Joint General Secretary of the AL, said “The verdict could not fulfill our expectation. The nationa expected that Quader Mollah would be given capital punishment.”

The spokesperson for the party came up with the assertion at a press conference at party’s Dhanmondi office in the city on Tuesday.

In response to queries, the AL leader said none would be able to stage demo protesting the International Crimes Tribunal.

He, however, dismissed duel policy of the incumbent government on Jamaat issue. “AL does not believe in duel policy,” Hanif claimed.

The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-2 on Tuesday sentenced Jamaat leader Quader Mollah to life term imprisonment for his involvement in crimes against humanity during the country’s Liberation War in 1971.
