DHAKA(4 janu.): Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami warned of ‘possible civil war’ if the government passes any verdict against party’s detained leaders.
City Jamaat secretary general Selim Uddin issued the warning while addressing a rally in city’s Motijheel Monday.
Selim Uddin said, “Quader Molla isn’t any ‘butcher Kader’ while Delawar Hossain Sayedee is apple of eye of countrymen. Any verdict against them will lead the country toward civil war and Jamaat-Shibir activists will create mass upsurge.”
“The Awami League government filed 3,000 cases against Jamaat-Shibir leaders in last three years and our 3,000 activists are ready to sacrifice their lives for releasing our detained leaders,” he added.
Demanding dissolution of the controversial `International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)`, he again said, “This tribunal has no acceptability at home and abroad.”
He also said that Jamaat would announce tougher programmes if their leaders weren’t released immediately.
