DHAKA (28janu) : The Supreme Court stayed the High Court verdict, which declared the amended constitution of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) illegal, till February 7.

SC Chamber Judge Syed Mahmub Hossain passed the order following a petition filed by National Sports Council (NSC) and BCB Monday.

Earlier in the day, a petition was filed seeking cancellation of the verdict that termed BCB constitution (amend) ‘illegal’ on Sunday.

Earlier on Sunday, the High Court declared the amendment to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) constitution illegal.

A HC bench comprising Justice Farah Mahbub and Justice Abdur Rob passed the verdict.

Barrister Mahbub Shafiq and Advocate KM Hafizul Islam Rana had appealed to HC against the amendment.

As per the verdict, the amendment of BCB constitution regarded as invalid and BCB will run by its constitution-2008.

On November of the last year former BCB director engineer Mubassher Hosain along with Yousuf Jamil Babu, a sports organizer, filed a writ petition with HC challenging the amendment of BCB constitution.

In response their plea court passed a role upon BCB on December 13, 2012.
