DHAKA (24janu) : Election Commission (EC) is taking preparation to arrange the 10th national elections in October in the passing year, says EC source.
According to source, the polls are expected to be held in between October 26, 2013 and January 24, 2014.
The EC has already been taken a number of measures including, remarking boundaries of the constituencies and amending RPO, said the source.
While talking to banglanews, an EC Secretariat source, Tk 500 crore is expected to be expended for the upcoming parliamentary polls.
In the meantime, the EC has almost completed updating of the voter list and the commission is hopeful of publishing it in the first week of February this year.
Activities to fix the poling centres and purchasing necessary equipment for the polls have already begun, sources added.
While contacted, Chief Election Commission (CEC) Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmed told banglanews, “The commission is ready for the upcoming polls.”
The EC is ready for the polls which will be held within 90 days following expiration of the tenure of the incumbent government, he added.
