KHULNA (24janu) : Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Thursday said a three-dimensional Naval Force would be formed for future generation in order to face any challenges during any war.
She said, “Although we do not want to engage ourselves in any war but if anyone attacks us we will prevent.”
The Primer came up with the disclosure while addressing the inaugural session of a commissioning programme at BNS Padma, first fleet of Bangladesh Naval Forces, which was built at Khulna Shipyard.
Meanwhile, she announced to add submarine to all the naval bases in the country soon to make deterrent forces.
The PM said, “11 fleets are being imported while five are being constructed to strengthen the naval forces.”
BNS Padma is the first fleet out of the mentioned 5 which began its journey (commissioning) at Khalishpur in the city, she added.
Hasina expressed hope that Bangladesh will also win the legal battle over the maritime dispute against India as like Myanmar.
Earlier on March 5 in 2011, PM inaugurated construction of the fleet while Foreign Minister Dipu Moni launched it on October 8, 2012.
The BNS Padma will be adorned with four cannons including two anti-aircraft cannons.
The PM is set to address a rally at Circuit House premises in the city at around 2:00 pm.
