DHAKA (07 janu_ : Opposition BNP blamed Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and police for killing Rafiqul Islam Mazumder, the BNP General Secretary of 56 Number ward of Dhaka City.
BNP Standing Committee member Tariqul Islam came up with the allegation before Namaz-e-Janaza of Rafiq in front of the party’s Nayapaltan central office around 11:30am on Monday.
Claiming ‘the government committed the planned killing’ Toriqul said, “Rafiq was picked up men showing identity of Rab. So it is cent percent sure that he was killed by Rab-police. The government has to proof it, whether Rab involve with the incident or not.”
Mentioning that the government has killed 156 leaders and activists of the opposition, the senior BNP leader also said, “The government has to be ousted by unite against their oppression, murder, torture, unfair deeds.”
Standing Committee member MK Anwar, BNP Chairperson’s adviser Mosaddek Ali Falu, Dhaka city BNP convener Sadek Hossain Khoka, member secretary Abdus Salam, Swechhasebok Dal president Habib un Nabi Khal Sohel among others attend the Namaz-e-Janaza.
The body was taken to his village home in Chandpur. He will be laid to rest at his family graveyard after another Nama-e-Janaza here.
Earlier, Rafiqul Islam Mazumder was found dead in Pollir ground under Kumarkhali upazila of the district on Saturday midnight.
Dhaka City BNP will stage protest programme on January 8 at Nayapaltan against the killing.
