Dhaka, (6, Jan):— Police filed 11 lawsuits in the capital Dhaka on Saturday night over torching of vehicles and bombs explosions ahead of the opposition’s countrywide shutdown protesting hike in fuel prices.
The cases were filed with the Ramna, New Market, Lalbagh, Kotwali, Sabujbagh, Tejgaon Industrial Zone, Mirpur, Kafrul, Gulshan and Banani police stations.
“Police filed the cases under the speedy trial act for torching of vehicles and explosions,” Deputy Commissioner (Media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Masudur Rahman said.
However, in none of the cases anyone named was accused.
Of the cases, two have been filed with the Ramna police and one each with the remaining stations.
